Now what does that mean you might say? We’ll we live in a world of uncertainty. Nothing is as quite as it seems. Or is it? Truth be told there are no secrets hidden in this world, we choose not to see the truth even when it’s right in front our faces. Then we exhaust ourselves in trying to make a square peg fit into a circle it never works. Okay, sometimes we do get the old shuck and jive routine. And we are blinded for a bit. Now that bit can be a week, a month, or some years until we realize we actually signed up for that. It ends up sad, crying, and angry all the stages of a Breakup.
Now don’t get it twisted I am NOT, I repeat NOT just talking about relationships. There are many situations of this world that take you to this place. Loss of a job, friendship and business partner. I have had my share of all these as I am sure all of you have as well.
But this is a blog is about Being Down. Actually being stable, dedicated and respect to the cause. Many don’t actually know what that means. They say certain phrases like, I got you, and don’t worry about it, we gone be good, or together we can conquer the world, or The “WE”statements. You know them.
We’ll let’s take a look at what the words stability, dedication and respect. For most of us, we got that down when it comes to ourselves. We are definitely looking out for number ONE. Let me ask you something. How’s that working for you?
Some will say it’s the bomb and some will say not well. Hopefully, this will help us all be more mindful of what we say, do and how we act when comes towards each other.
First: Stability, let’s see what the bible says about it. Actually, there about many verses in the bible about stability. Pick one that captures your attention.
Proverbs 28:42 when a land transgresses, it has many rulers, but with a man of understanding and knowledge, its stability will long continue.
Wow, that says a lot, remember there are many verses in the bible about stability. Now let see what the dictionary says about stability.
Dictionary definition of stability is: Stability is the state of being resistant to change and not prone to wild fluctuations in emotion.
After reading both of those definitions I think there is a better understanding of what stability should be in you life. So are you stable? Can you truly hold down yourself and someone else? If we review the person, place or thing there should be evidence of a strong platform in place. Strong enough that the platform will be unwavering.
Second: Dedication now that’s a great word as well. Let’s see what the bible has to say about this word. There are many verses in the bible about being dedicated.
Psalm 1 (ESV) 1 Blessed is the man [a]
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
2 but his delight is in the law [b] of the Lord,
and on his law he meditates day and night.
3 He is like a tree
planted by streams of water
that yields its fruit in its season,
and its leaf does not wither.
In all that he does, he prospers.
4 The wicked are not so,
but are like chaff that the wind drives away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;
6 for the Lord knows the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.
This one really gets me thinking. How about you? Ok, let’s see what the dictionary says about Dedication.
Dictionary definition of Dedication; is defined as the state of being committed to someone, a ceremony for the beginning of something such as the birth of a child, or something written, said or expressed in honor or memory of someone.
Now this gets me thinking as well. We have to ask ourselves some questions. Who, what or where are we dedicated to? And is the person, place or thing worthy of our dedication? As well as are we up for the challenge of being dedicated?
Can someone count on you? No matter what? Are you being down?
Third: Respect: Let’s see what the bible say about Respect.
Proverbs 14:31 He who oppresses the poor taunts his Maker, But he who is gracious to the needy honors Him.
Dictionary definition of Respect: a feeling of admiring someone or something that is good, valuable, important, etc.: a feeling or understanding that someone or something is important, serious, etc., and should be treated in an appropriate way. : A particular way of thinking about or looking at something.
Example: If a guy (or girl) respects you, they are going to communicate. They are going to answer texts promptly and explain what happened. They are going to take you out like a normal human being; they won’t flake or bail at the last-minute and they do what they can to make you happy.
When you respect your partner in love, friends or business partner in a relationship, you don’t lie, cheat, steal or do any of the other things that usually make relationships fall apart. This isn’t to say that they will be perfect and that something won’t arise. We need to try to keep things smooth, even and fair.
I know they say the people who care about you the most are the ones who hurt you the most. But maybe we’ve got that backwards. What if it’s not that they care about you, but rather, you care about them, so you end up upset that someone you feel so strongly about clearly doesn’t feel that way for you?
Ultimately, people who don’t care about you usually end up hurting you. If you keep having conversation after conversation about how you two need to communicate more or how they needs to stop lying, cheating, then chances are they never cared about you in the first place.
The same goes for platonic and professional relationships. Your coworker isn’t going to apply for that promotion you’ve been wanting behind your back if she respects you and instead, will talk to you about it first even if it means an uncomfortable conversation.
Mutual respect is perhaps the most important component to any successful relationship, but you don’t hear too many relationship gurus talking about it that much. Respect (or lack thereof) is arguably the root of a lot of problems in romantic, platonic and professional relationships.
So now you know, hopefully you will be respectful to someone, build a stable environment and be dedicated to the cause. Always remember treat someone like you want to be treated. What you put out is what you will receive. Sooner or Later it will be your turn.
I learned a great deal researching and writing this blog. And I hope you are while reading it… Share it with the people you love and care about. So that you and the other person(s) can take your friendship, relationships and business to the next level.
Tip: In order for someone to be part of something you’re doing, or be down with you there must be incentive, encouragement and loyalty.
